I can't get enough of it because there were only like five fics to begin with, but Mary Crawley/Lavinia Swire from Downton Abbey. Mary was so prepared to despise Lavinia, and then Lavinia turned out to be so sweet and earnest and we got this great friendship and then Matthew died of Spanish flu and Mary and Lavinia lived together as two ~old maids forever.
