Fandom never did enough with the Handmaiden/Feudal Lord stuff, but CLEARLY it should've turned into an elaborate verse with lots of fealty/loyalty-swearing and lots of kinking on the power differences between the Feudal Lady being able to order her Handmaiden around with some Handmaidens being more like protective knights and others having other duties. Obviously the more powerful a Feudal Lady is, the more Handmaidens she has.
