Wtf is wrong with you, that you can look at this beautiful gem of a show, and your complaint is that they haven't spent enough money making it? God, priveledged, much? They are trying and actually they've done a damn good job. It's actually quite a pretty show, for anyone who cares to check it out with thier own eyes, rather than listening to you.

It's a commercial product, not your aunt's lovingly handknitted but lumpy Christmas present.

It's still made by PEOPLE. Real humans who worked hard and believed in it. It wasn't contrived by the CEO of Coca-Cola for the profit ffs. You're an idiot.

Are you the same nonny responsible for "Wishing Supernatural ended is the same as wishing the real-life actors never became friends AND THAT'S TERRIBLE?"

Did the CW hire you to be their viral marketer?

No? But there's a difference between "corporate product made for the moniez" and "some writer put thier heart and soul into getting thier story seen on screen, and so did the other creative folks who put thier imput into it." Or are all networl TV shows just soulless profit-drivers to you, and the only good & pure media are indie things?

The italics failed, a bit. But yeah. The CW just picked the show up, after someone else pitched it. They didn't contrive of the damn thing, or write it, or do ANYTHING but throw X amount of dollars to get it made. That was all up to Devlin and co.

this subthread is so fucking funny to me

it's the subthread OP's constant misspellings and html fails that really make it

Hmm, so... how is moderation gonna work here? Should we modcall or...? Because this is obviously a troll.

(frozen comment) Re: The Outpost

(Anonymous) 2018-08-10 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Not trolling, just genuinely pissed at people like OP, who let good genre shows die, because they're not 100% flawless in every way. Meanwhile, the networks replace them with fucking generic cop dramas, because they don't think anyone is actually interested in shows about swordfighting women.

nayrt

...the OP is the person currently watching the show, how on earth are they letting it die?

(frozen comment) Re: The Outpost

(Anonymous) 2018-08-10 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
At least they're watching it, yeah. I was just expecting the show to bring about a Legend of the Seeker level of genuine love for it. I mean, Utah's no New Zealand, but... the only the first time I'd heard someone talk about it being mostly a stab about how awful much of it is didn't exactly bode well. I guess people are just more cynical these days, but damn. Where can I go where people just straight up LIKE things and are happy they exist?

Better than CW production value privilege, the most important axis of oppression.

Re: The Outpost

You'll probably get wank for stating your feelings too bluntly, but I agree with the gist of what you're getting at anyway.

If it makes you feel any better, I'd never heard of this show, and OP's description made me go, "Oh what? Elf girls? Forced bathing you say??" Even if the production values are low, well, noted, I can live with that! Some of my friends tease me for liking Japanese movies with terrible-by-Hollywood-standards special effects, but that stuff is just very low on my list of priorities. The presence of a male love interest is a bit more disheartening, but I sure do like elf girls.

So now I'm going to check it out, whereas I wouldn't if no one brought it up! Seems like other nonnies might too. Even if OP is unduly harsh on it, nonnies can figure that out and make up our own minds if we want to check it out for ourselves.

LOL dude, ffs, I'm not the OP and I'm one of the, like, six people watching the show and there's nothing unduly harsh about their description. (And actually, some people LIKE stuff being trashy, cheesy, etc. I know I do.)

DA

Yeah, I appreciate a heads-up that things are cheesy because that’s not a turn-off for me, but I know it is for some people. Like, most of the beloved f/f canons are cheese city, with low production quality! And I’ve had people make fun of me for loving them, but I embrace the cheese-- it’s one of the things I love in a fandom.
