anyone remember the fandom days where the order you listed the characters in a ship indicated who you thought topped and who you thought bottomed?

That's still true. It's just less loud nowadays. If it's important to me that Wiki-san/Google-san, then I'll choose that, or vice versa. If it's not, I type it whichever way sounds the best or is convenient

Yeah, I don't think Anglophone f/f fandom ever did that, or at least I don't remember it being a thing back in ye olde early 2000s

It's pretty much never been a thing outside m/m fandom. Unsurprisingly, ships involving women tend not to strictly define top/bottom roles according to who penetrates vs. who gets penetrated.

upthread anon has some ships where who's more powerful is very important, regardless of if it's also obvious imo.

Condesce/people, Meenah/people, Jasper/people, people/Jasper, Junko/people or people/Junko. I kink a loooot on power dynamics and so while some of my ships are pretty give or take in others who's domming is very integral to my love of them.

It probably helps that I'm pretty accustomed to het and m/m fandom, but I'm doing it anyhow.
