Villanelle beckoned, slow and careful. It was funny. Sometimes, she was as ruthless and calculating as a viper. Maybe as poisonous as one too. But, other times, it was like there was something peaking out from behind her stone walls. It was almost like there was something vulnerable, as if Villanelle was human just like the rest of them.

Eve wasn't sure which Villanelle scared her more.

"You're here," Villanelle whispered. Her voice was soft and reverent. Eve bit her lower lip. "And you're wearing the dress." The dress. Because what other dress could it be? The last time Eve wore it, Villanelle was just as pleased. That's what she wanted her to be: pleased.

"How long have you been waiting?" Eve asked, schooling her voice into something deeper and more sultry. She rested her hand on her hip.

The way Villanelle's lips trembled at that made Eve want to kiss her. But that wouldn't do. "For this?" Villanelle asked.

Eve slid her hand behind her hip and up towards the knife her non-dominant hand gripped firmly. Just a few more steps, and she'd have her right where she wanted her.

"Forever." Villanelle grinned, a cruel smile. Eve heard the click of a reload.

I am picturing this seguing directly into a Mr. and Mrs. Smith style fight scene, and then a Mr. and Mrs. Smith style sex scene. :D

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh this is so good, so tense and so atmospheric and so richly full of psychological layers and so them.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE PART but I'm also so glad it ends with them ready to fight (and then probably fuck).
