I just read this and liked it quite a bit -- it was slow in parts, but I thought the author handled "queer black Holmes and Watson" well and the worldbuilding was fascinating. Bonus: Sara Holmes does seem to be ace, maybe. Any other nonnies here read it? What did you think?

Is it shippy and do you think the writer's going to make it romantic? I'm super here for the premise either way.

DA If you check out the comments on the Scalzi Big Idea piece, the author has commented that Holmes/Watson will not be a thing in the series.

u know this is a femslash meme and most ppl here are not going to consider potentially shippable characters being explicitly confirmed to be non-lgbt as a "bonus", right?

particularly historically, hmm idk what the word is i'm looking for, not gay icons but characters widely regarded as subtextually gay by lgbt ppl.

not a bonus.
