I just read this and liked it quite a bit -- it was slow in parts, but I thought the author handled "queer black Holmes and Watson" well and the worldbuilding was fascinating.

In the original version of this post, OP said Sherlock was ace, but that doesn't preclude the possibility that she's written as being romantically into women. (I actually originally assumed that was the case because of how OP said they were both queer. I'd be curious to know the answer either way.)
