So I bought a bundle of games by Hanako Games that included Long Live the Queen and A Little Lily Princess, both of which I already have, and I thought I'd offer them here first. A Little Lily Princess is a yuri VN featuring the characters from A Little Princess, and LLTQ is Princess Maker except you die a lot and has two f/f romance options. If you want one, drop a sock email (or your real email if you don't care about anonymity?) and let me know which one. First come first served.

I'm repurposing this thread to talk about Twine games I liked, which include Siren For Hire:

Which is about a burnt-out magical girl team that's also a metaphor for activism. I liked the complicated relationships in this game, though I still wish the main character had hooked up with her cool boss instead of her actual love interest.

Did they ever patch in an ending where you could just run away with her? I remember trying and failing to get a romance with her several times.

It's been a little while since I played, but IIRC you can definitely romance her, it's just not possible to make it endgame. My headcanon is that they both survive the end of the war and then get, like, a nice cottage in Brittany or something.

I love that one too! And IDK, as much as I enjoy fix-it fics and headcanons, I kind of like that there's no happy ending for them in canon. Part of the appeal of their dynamic to me is that no matter how much they may love each other, they both have strong loyalties that neither is willing to compromise for the other even though that puts them in conflict.

Well damn if that isn't a powerful, poetic summary of a lot of shit I've been mulling over lately. And the way the women who have been through that whole dance and know the steps too well approach each other in the get-together at the end sure rings familiar. Thank you for sharing!

It's so good. I love how the game portrays burnout and the like.... cycle of trauma so many groups find themselves in. Everyone keeps hurting each other but they're hurt the most by the miasma of society and hatred around them.
