See, that's why I love it! It made me mad and thrilled the same way the show's ending did.

Also, I love the tension of Villanelle, not just the good/bad dichotomy but also whether she's capable of a relationship that does not end in either her or Eve's destruction. I'm more positive about her in general than the fic is but I really like seeing different answers to the question of "can they actually have a functional relationship?"

I actually think the fic gets Villanelle spot on, that's part of why it made me mad. I *want* her and Eve to ride off into the sunset, but Villanelle wouldn't be Villanelle if that happened, imo. The only way I can see them ending up together is if Eve also goes full psychopath, but the S1 ending makes me think that's unlikely.

Yeah, a lot of killer/ordinary person ships end up with the more moral one acting as the killer's handler or morality chain, but it feels like Villanelle actively resents and resists control: all her early scenes with Konstantin where she's trying to push her luck, for example.

I think the Anna thing also makes her feel more volatile: she has a pattern of falling for the same kind of woman, so what makes Eve special instead of just the latest one to catch her eye? It's also hard to trust that Villanelle won't ever lose interest or lash out violently if Eve pushes the wrong button, but that's what makes her so compelling. Her character's established as so volatile and mercurial that you never really know what they're going to do with her next.

nayrt i have feeling that it might end with one or both of them dead albeit i hope they could find a way to leave the series with them both alive, even if it's not necessarily together in a relationship

I think you could be right. I would be devastated if either of them died but tbh when you get into a show about assassins where the word "killing" is in the title, you probably can't righteously complain about character death...
