Sometimes I think, "Since no one is filling this need, my fanworks are going to get a lot more attention," since anyone else coming to that fandom looking for femslash isn't going to have many options. Other times, it just makes me sigh and think, "No one but me even cares about this, why even bother?" and move on to a different fandom.

Weirdly, what discourages me the most is when I ship a particular f/f ship which isn't popular, but a different f/f ship in the same fandom gets much bigger. I mean, all f/f isn't interchangeable! But when there's already a f/f juggernaut in a fandom, I feel like any f/f that isn't that juggernaut can just get ignored. There are exceptions to that, fandoms that are more femslash free-for-alls, but a lot of times it's just one ship that brings in the influx of thirsty femslash fans, and that's all they care about.

I feel all of that. In the midst of a general decline in femslash in my fandom, there's one ship that seems to be gaining a bit of traction... and it's one I don't really like. I wouldn't call it quite a noTP, but still. Why not my ship, fandom?! /bratty

Why would you say that and not name the fandom? C'mon, anon :P

It's Red vs. Blue and greylina. :P (And when I say "gaining traction" that needs to be qualified with a massive "for an f/f ship.") And I don't want to bash the ship! It's fine. It's just not one I care for.
