I would exchange S3 and 4 of Wynonna Earp for another season of Dark Matter, in a heartbeat. Dark Matter had characters and ships I actually cared about, whereas Wayhaught is apparently the only canon femslash ship I've ever found to be painfully boring . I haven't seen last week's episode yet, so maybe something interesting happened, I dunno.

.5

Not sure if I'd go that far, but ditto on liking the characters more and shipping all the things. And finding WayHaught boring. I just don't care about Nicole.

Here's my TYWAU, it's one of the reasons I dropped the show. Not the main reason though.

I can't plus one this because I've never seen Wynonna Earp, but damn do I miss Dark Matter.

Never seen WE, but I would happily cancel Killjoys for more Dark Matter. Android especially was amazing.

I'm rewatching Xena for the first time in years and Xena/Gabrielle does nothing for me. Maybe that will change when I get further in, but I doubt it.

I thought Xena/Gabrielle was sweet, but the ship that really did it for me was Xena/Callisto.

I prefer enemy ships, so it never worked for me. What kind of dynamic do you like?

I don't really like Tomoyo in Cardcaptor Sakura. Her running gags aren't funny and her "I'm happy as long as you're happy" thing kinda means her character doesn't really evolve in any way? Plus it's seriously depressing to think that she could likely spend her whole life looking at Sakura from afar and not move on. I guess I'm just not a fan of her role as Sakura's personal cheerleader and provider of gadgets/costumes, even though their friendship can have cute moments.

I don't either tbh. She's boring as fuck and honestly her providing costumes for Sakura who wasn't all keen on them put me off her.

I am very insecure about any potential F/F porn I write. I have no actual reason to be (I mean I don't think), basically every insecurity I have could be said about any other kind of smut I write but I don't feel this way about them, just F/F.

I felt this way for ages and I think it was partly because it all felt so personal with femslash in a way that writing dicks booping didn't.

I'm a bit less nervous about it these days, and what seems to have helped is getting REALLY REALLY into a new fave and then writing reams of horny drawerfic about her. Some of which I posted and got excited feedback about? Which helped some with the disproportionate level of "oh god this will suck won't it" feelings. So I'm mostly just back to normal worry about my writing quality, as one does!

Good luck, nonnie. I think anything you write is one step closer to being comfortable writing it. ❤❤❤❤

I read and enjoy Itou Hachi's works, including the underage stuff.

Lately some of it's been getting too creepy for me, though.

I wish people would stop acting like you can only like Dark Matter OR Killjoys. Maybe I just like tropey shows about space!

Yeah, same. I liked both though my love of Killjoys has definitely waned.

Sorry, the endless "Dark Matter SUCKS" drumbeat on meme got to me, I guess. For a while it seemed like the way for me to tell if a show had a lot of FF potential was if meme was silent about it or ragged on it constantly.

Same! I love BOTH of them, so much. Fridays used to be the best! Still great because Killjoys, but Dark Matter is really missing from the lineup. (One year, we had Killjoys, Dark Matter, AND Defiance the same night, right?)

I'm one of those "I wish there was more smut and less soft pastel handholding!" fans, except I'm really terrible at writing smut so my fic always just fades to black.

Story of my life.

Re: TYWAU - femslash edition

(Anonymous) 2018-08-09 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Recently my fandom's f/f tag has gotten spammed to the gills by reader and OFC fic, and I hate it because it means I have to do work to find the actual content for the characters I care about.... but also my longest and most enduring fantasy right now is a very involved Character/Me story that I would totally write if writing were easy because I think it would make legitimately good erotica. No fictional character porn has ever been as hot to me as this self-insert fantasy. And I'm mad about it.

I hear you on both these points, nonnie. May you be able to make the smut you want happen, and also find actual content about your faves!

Wynonna Earp S2 was Very Badly Written and I don't understand why the rest of the fandom didn't notice?

Re: TYWAU - femslash edition

(Anonymous) 2018-08-13 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Those of us who did notice mostly drifted away from the fandom.

IDK. I give them a lot of credit for rolling with Melanie Scrofano's pregnancy and writing it into the season at the last minute, but it can't have helped make the plotting easier. Although some of their other choices, like the way they kept trying to inject drama into Wayhaught, usually by making Waverly hold the idiot ball, can't really be attributed to that, so who knows.

I did like the new characters they added last season, though. (I haven't caught up on S3 yet, but I'm preparing to be annoyed there isn't more Merdeces.)

I noticed. I fumed. I didn’t want to shit on anyone’s fun, so I quietly dropped the show when they kept dropping my favorite character’s story lines.

If a character's gender identity is ambiguous (whether they're AFAB, AMAB, or unknown), I will almost always come down on the side of interpreting them as female characters, especially if they have shippable dynamics with other female characters. I know fandom tends to feel that people's opinions on these matters should either be based on Evidence or What Is The Best Representation?, but I'm just shallow and want to maximize lesbians.
