I think meme is kind of old school AO3 heavy and gets stuck on "dudes fucking is hot" and really doesn't care so much about FF. Which is fine, but the same few examples that get brought up with "We do too really care about femslash!!" are kind of telling.

I can understand being kinda disconnected from a lot of the popular F/F content nowadays, since the popular F/F hotspots seem to have moved towards anime, cartoons and video games, while meme has always been more "media fandom."

But meme is just like, "uhh, Swanqueen?"

I mean, FFA forgets that there's still TV fandoms that are pretty heavy on f/f content. I mean, you don't have to like the content being produced by Wynonna Earp fandom, or Supergirl fandom, or The 100 fandom, but they certainly exist!

(And that's not even taking into account the Asian dramas that draw femslashers, like Age of Youth or Miss Sherlock!)

Age of Youth is tiny, though. :( Although people who are thinking about femslashy canons for Yuletide, that's a great one.

I just desperately want so much Yi Na/Jin Myung fic, where they're fucked up and working through their respective issues and working out a bunch of their feelings via sex. Is that so much to ask?

Yeah, not to mention other shows that have great FF potential, like The Expanse, Dark Matter, 12 Monkeys....which do come up some on meme, but almost never in those "give me an example of something I could get decent quality FF in instead of having to just ship The Menz" discussions.

The FF potential of Star Trek Discovery was BIG (Michael/Georgiou! Michael/Tilly! Kat/Georgiou! Kat/L'Rell! Michael/Mirror!Georgiou!) plus the show had a canon gay married couple and went out of its way to casually show same-sex couples in the background, but meme was really quiet about that.

But all over Lorca/Ash.

Oh man, the amount of mundane AU Lorca/Ash is really something for the angels to weep over. And typically Lorca is the good guy! The one interesting thing about him was he was a villain, and Jason Isaacs leaned wayy into that.

I'm still disappointed the Disco kink meme never took off.

Maybe a Disco FF kinkmeme or comment fest or something? There's some quality FF out there already.

I think a lot of nonnies ended up over at

spacefungusparty. I know I did, and I saw a major dropoff in FFA Disco content when SFP took off. And SFP was very F/F friendly. :D

Oh, SFP is great. The discussion there was wonderful, and people were super friendly and fun. It's gone a little quiet, but maybe a kinkmeme or rewatch or something would get people talking again -- the S2 trailer definitely pepped it up.

There is also some great Mirror!Georgiou/Kat Cornwall fic out there. It makes me happy actresses that age got such good parts (56 and 57, respectively).

NGL the fantastic roles for Georgiou and Cornwell are my favourite thing about the show (narrowly edging out Michael Burnham's brilliant, expressive face). <3

And for once I'm not the only one with these feels? It's pretty great. :D

Meme was also like "LOL do you really expect lots of fic for some indie flop," about Atomic Blonde. Which, no, was not a giant moneymaker, but got a lot of critical attention and was definitely at least in the cultural water table.
