(Anonymous) 2018-08-07 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)-Alpennia novels, by Heather Rose Jones
The first book, Daughter of Mystery, is FULL of loyalty kink: it's about a young woman who is unexpectedly left an inheritance by her godfather...including her godfather's bodyguard, who dresses in men's clothing and swordfights. The books do include a little bit of magic, but are really about queer women carving out a place in academia and working together, and they're really really fun.
-Kate Kane series, by Alexis Hall
Pretty standard urban fantasy with a hardboiled supernatural detective, only Kate Kane is a gay woman (whose mother is fae but that only comes up sometimes).
-Fire Logic, by Laurie J Marks
The main plot is about war, but the f/f romance makes up a big part of the character arcs. Also, loyalty kink and found family (done well).

(Anonymous) 2018-08-08 02:39 am (UTC)(link)YES, same so much! I didn’t even know that was a thing I wanted before I read the books-- I was drawn in by the loyalty kink in Daughter of Mystery-- but I love, love, love the worldbuilding the books set up. I still need to read the 3rd book, but the first two are *kisses fingers*
(Also, another rec: Steerswoman isn’t f/f, but the relationship between the two female mains is very shippy and if you like the academic bits of Alpennia, you’d probably like Steerswoman.)

(Anonymous) 2018-08-07 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)No, there's no English version; I wish there was, I want to be able to recommend it to all my English-speaking friends! There does seem to be a French version available now. It's about opposites-attract nurses during the First World War - one is a wealthy young woman from Naples who became a nurse to escape the boredom of her family life, and one is much more serious, the daughter of a veterinarian from the North and wants to become a doctor. I believe it's been criticized for being as much about the war as about their relationship, but that was not a bad thing for me.

(Anonymous) 2018-08-07 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)Awww, that sounds excellent and I wish it was in a language I could read! (I could probably manage Spanish with a dictionary handy, but French and Italian are beyond me.)
