Or, wank about Girl Crush, which i just heard for the first time the other day and found so bizarre. I recall that there was wank when it came out, but I didn’t pay that much attention.

It's not a gay country song, it's not even a smarm country song! It's the stupidest kind of bait and switch. It's all "ooo girl I want your strong thighs and your musky hair and your velvety labia. . .TRANSPLANTED ONTO MY BODY so you can't use them to STEAL MY MAN."

That's not even what "girl crush" means!

I'm not disagreeing with you, just annoyed that this awful song got so much airtime. I don't know how it was hyped in general, just heard it on the radio way too often.

Oh, I definitely agree! I listened to it because I saw prompts for it for...Yuletide? Jukebox? Something. Femslash prompts! And I just didn't see whatever the prompter saw. Jolene is more femslashy than this.

More power to anyone who wants to write femslash about it, but it's way too weird a combination of TMI and no-homo for me. I'm glad I only heard "Girl Crush" on the radio, where I expect to hear bad and weird country songs, instead of thinking I had a glorious new song prompt and getting. . . that.
