Yeah, I originally thought this would be a rec/discussion thread too, and was going to talk about Choice of Broadsides! Player/Villeneuve is a great ship.

Did they ever patch in an ending where you could just run away with her? I remember trying and failing to get a romance with her several times.

It's been a little while since I played, but IIRC you can definitely romance her, it's just not possible to make it endgame. My headcanon is that they both survive the end of the war and then get, like, a nice cottage in Brittany or something.

Yes! And they squabble and probably spar sometimes and get competitive over, idk, who had the better boat. Probably they raise goats or something.

I love that one too! And IDK, as much as I enjoy fix-it fics and headcanons, I kind of like that there's no happy ending for them in canon. Part of the appeal of their dynamic to me is that no matter how much they may love each other, they both have strong loyalties that neither is willing to compromise for the other even though that puts them in conflict.
