Kinda same, with one caveat- I don't think Artemis is interested in drama. Hera always comes with drama.

And my personal headcanon for Athena is that she's got it in her head that she's too rational for base urges, so I tend to ship her with Aphrodite who would take such an attitude as a challenge. I feel like Artemis wouldn't be bothered with seducing her while she's still mixed up over it. I really like the idea of Artemis/Persephone though. Summer loving. And Artemis/Iphigenia really interests me. I wish there was fic.

I wish we had more myths about her and her companions that weren't about dudes butting in. :( I'm going to go hunt for some now.

It feels pretty natural to ship her with amazones

See, that's why I'm into it! Artemis wants everything to be drama-free in a way that makes sense, Hera is the prototypical Messy Bitch Who Lives For Drama and yet! Somehow they're drawn to each other!

Through their connection Hera learns that sometimes she has to emotionally disengage and not take things personally, and Artemis learns that she's not as objective as she thinks she is and sometimes, yes, it can be fun to be petty.

hmm. hmmmm.

Theoretical fic summary: 5 times Artemis regrets falling into Hera's bed, and 1 time she doesn't.

Okay I was skeptical but I am coming around. Thinking on it, they're really the antithesis of each other, aren't they? I've always tended to pair Artemis and Athena as the opposites, savagery vs civilization, but it works just as well with Hera. Hera tames beasts, Artemis runs free with them. Hera is all about social society and structure and the specific kind of power women wield by aligning with patriarchy, Artemis is a rejection of all those things. It would be so messy. ...I like it. Imagine the situations they would drag each other into!

Yes! They're very diametrically opposed in ways that make them philosophical enemies almost, but that clash is very fascinating to me. And I think they're both pretty invested in control, Hera in the idea of controlling the domestic sphere and Artemis more about self-control and discipline as a huntress. And when two control freaks get together... lots of lovely power struggle and conflict.

And I do think it would be better for both of them to understand each other, in a sort of "my way is not the only way" manner.

NA making it horrible again, but... I was just reading up on Callisto and found this line "Artemis to please Hera shot the bear" (the bear being a transformed Callisto) .............. now I'm imagining Hera, as Artemis's lover, tricked her into killing her companion.......

Definitely a messy relationship if that happened, lol.

Ooh, that Athena/Aphrodite headcanon is extremely RTMI. Especially if it's the sort of situation where Aphrodite starts out just trying to prove a point/her superiority/whatever, and Athena's determined to not be interested--well, maybe she should investigate for science--maybe just a little bit more investigation--and then they both end up kind of in over their heads and way more emotionally entangled than either intended.
