I've seen accusations that we're "heterophobic" or even biphobic for not shipping het if we ship either f/f or m/m or both. Which is a reach as eyerolling and obnoxious as "You can only ship one type" or "You must ship m/f m/m and f/f" is. But some idiots will always assume stupid shit based on others' preferences, due to their own personal hangups and insecurities and need to prove how "woke uwu" they are.

To me, the only good use of "heterophobia" is when gay people use fear of phantom heterosexuality to be dicks to other gay people. Like, "You've had past het relationships when you were young and confused that made you miserable, and you're gay now? Ew, gross hetero be gone!" Or, "You play with gender roles, you're in a butch/femme relationship, one member of the relationship crossdresses, etc? Ew, you're basically just straight, get out!" The only shipping heterophobia is like, when people question if I'm really a lesbian or not because I have straight ships. Or that handmaiden/feudal lord crap. I learned that day that Korrasami is straight because Korra is....brusque, or something! I forgot that heterosexual was defined as a brusque/demure relationship, which in itself is a hot take on their characterization, but anyway.

"Heterophobia" is not a failure of gay people to labor for straight representation, lmao no. But then I think we should reclaim the word entirely, there's no "irrational fear of heterosexuals," but there is "irrational fear of heterosexuality in gay spaces."
