It's from a 2000 movie called Songcatcher. Apparently they're Appalachian teachers and one is the protagonist's sister? I didn't want spoilers so idk if one of them dies, I hope not, but god damn if that's not the hottest makeout scene I've ever seen in my life anywhere. And age difference yey.
Has anyone seen the movie? Is it any good?

Date: 2018-08-19 01:14 pm (UTC)What made me feel a little weird though was how they kind of made Morgan Schrodinger's lesbian: she never expresses interest in men, actively dodging male seduction attempts, and she's very very feminist/has Moments with women, but she never gets to express explicit interest in women either.
It reminded me of the article linked upthread about how straight female intimacy excludes queerness, like they were worried about the implication of Morgan being maybe a bit into Ashley even as they drew on the subtext of Kate McKinnon being out irl. I mean, sure, she's an actress, she can play all kinds of roles, but... I wish they'd have had them as a straight girl + gay girl best friendship instead.
