I watched this with a fellow lesbian and we both held our breath every time Anne Hathaway came onscreen wearing a low-cut off-the-shoulders dress.

I wish the characters had all interacted with each other more. I didn't get a sense for how they all bounced off each other. But I did get a sense for how each of them stood alone, which is enough for guessing the rest.

Boy I had an Anne Hathaway AWAKENING, watching this movie, which I did not expect at all. I know everyone was all about Lou, but for me it was not-quite-as-dumb-as-she-looks, hot-as-hell Daphne Kluger all the way. Daphne Kluger who was really fucking committed to playing her self-assigned role, geez. And just wants more female friends! Who she can sleep with, maybe! I want Daphne Kluger/everyone fic. Or &everyone fic, that is also acceptable. Five Times Daphne Kluger Made a Female Friend, and One Time It Wasn't Friendship. *cough*

God, yes. Lou and Daphne were probably the best-costumed characters in the whole film, but Daphne won my whole heart repeatedly. She was so game to become a criminal! And her line about female friendships delighted me. I could see her running cons postcanon for the thrill of it and for the opportunity to rope some of the others into it. Bonding time! Friendship means doing activities you enjoy together, right?

There SHOULD be, damn it. Heist fic is tough, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if there doesn't end up being tons in the tag. Still, it doesn't have to be too intense - even something like bugging Constance to teach her how to pickpocket would work. (Constance thinks she's going to be hopeless at it because she felt it every time Daphne tried to take her wallet. It's only when she sees how smooth Daphne is in action that she realizes Daphne was flirting by groping.)

And agreed, I don't really need plot as such. I just need enough to give the characters something to be doing in and around the banter.

I loved Constance too! I think it would be good from either POV, but I like it a little better from Daphne's, because then you can dwell on the competence porn of Constance moving so gracefully that it takes an expert's eyes to pick out what she's doing and describe the groping.

...shit, I might have to write this. But not this week, I have no time.

I never thought about Daphne trying to run cons on her own, but now I want fic where she sort of ends up as a rival to Debbie and Lou, but in a weirdly low-stakes way, and they all sleep together.

i saw this film with a nona (who also goes here) and we gasped and looked at eachother when they were feeding eachother with the fork
so much of their dynamic was incredibly loaded with sexual tension it made me wish they at least kissed once even in a flashback

and yes there wasn't a lot of time devoted to them interacting that's what happens when we have too many characters of varying importance in a movie
i suspect that it might have been better if it was a television show instead and it'd probably be more likely that the two mains would kiss too

Cate Blanchett is dressed extremely gayly throughout the movie. If you're a fan of hers I'd recommend it for that alone.
